We had a fantastic turnout with lots of dynamic conversation and tangible key takeaways for how to deepen equity and enhance community power in our region.
Hosted by BayCAN's Equity Working group the training was led by BCDC's Nahal Ipakchi, West Oakland Environmental Indicator Project's Phoenix Armenta, and BayCAN's Yeshe Salz.
This training helped equip members to understand core frameworks for community-driven adaptation planning. Participants receive training to use four concrete tools to help them:
· Analyze and measure for equity
· Navigate community vulnerability mapping tools
· Build equitable leadership structures
· Engage and partner with community organizations
Through engaging presentations, exercises and tool demonstrations, members left the workshop with a deepened understanding of equitable planning practices, as well as a host of new tools to employ in their projects!
